People have many legitimate concerns about AI, so I want to be fully transparent about how I use it in connection with my content.
About My Images
I am an aspiring writer—not a visual artist or graphic designer. The images I’ve generated for my posts serve the purpose of breaking up walls of text for readability and enhanced user experience. The backgrounds and accents on my worksheets add visual appeal to the guided reflection activities that I conceptualized myself.
As someone who’s not a graphic designer, I’ve spent many hours learning how to work with Google Docs and Canva to design and redesign every printable on this website. I want to reassure you that putting everything together was a labor of love on my part.
To minimize the risk of copyright infringement, I use minimalistic elements. I do not prompt the AI to imitate specific artists or brands, and I avoid copyrighted styles, characters, and proprietary designs. Other than the personal photos I used to render myself and my husband as illustrations, I do not include external images in my image prompts.
About My Writing
The content of my blog posts (and this statement) are written by me, but I do run them through AI to check tone, cohesion, and grammar. It generates editor-style notes that I use to carefully refine everything myself—no matter how many times it tries to spit out a fully polished version to copy-and-paste.
You will encounter AI writing on images and administrative items. These include the privacy policy, copyright notices on my worksheets, captions, descriptions, and alt-text. I do this to ensure thoroughness for legal compliance and SEO.
AI is a stand-in until I can afford to pay humans their worth.
At this time, I have to carefully balance content creation with lesson planning for my three homeschooled children. Using AI allows me to focus the time devoted to Recrafted Self on reading topic-related books, designing worksheets, and writing from my heart.
Human creativity, especially in visual arts, matters to me. I intend to hire a human graphic designer when my budget allows for it. However, my primary goal is to create free and low-cost resources while maintaining an ad-free space for users.
To use AI as ethically as possible, I promise to:
- Disclose how I use AI in content creation
- Create images responsibly and thoughtfully
- Check for copyright infringement and quality issues
- Write my blog posts with 100% authenticity
